Well, it happened...

I have never thought much about having a daughter, but now that I know we are having a baby girl I find myself a bit caught up in all the fun girlie things. A trip to the H&M baby section started it off, then I started picking out cloth diapers and discovered some of the cutest prints for girls.

One of the reasons I love being an Etsy seller, is so that I have more dough to spend at other Etsy shops. I recently bought this adorable Twirly Girl Skirt pattern over at Little Lizard King and whipped up this little number:

Can you stand it? I know. So then I had to make this:

I switched a few things up from the pattern for this one to do pleats instead of ruffles, and I think it turned out pretty darn sweet.

If you haven't checked out Etsy, you must go there right now. There is just something special about handmade, one-of-a-kind things!

Boys only club

While I enjoyed a weekend away with girlfriends, the boys headed out on a camping adventure. Cole could not stop talking about going camping with daddy after a trial run in the tent in the backyard.

Cole LOVED it. Can't stop talking about it. Hot dogs on the fire, 8:30 bed time, lots of talk about potential bear visits.

It's a healthy baby...

Today I had my 19 week ultrasound and got to see our healthy baby! It was so wonderful to see the strong beating heart, the sweet face and all the other parts. The ultrasound tech said that our baby looked just beautiful and everything was measuring right on track. It's always so reassuring to hear!

We were also eager to find out if we are having a baby girl or boy...and our families were waiting to open their envelopes for the big surprise...

We let them know they could open envelope #2. It turns out that they were right at our 13 week ultrasound, we are having a healthy baby...

We are thrilled! Cole on the other hand is in denial and is insisting that he is supposed to be getting a little brother. When the ultrasound tech told us it was a girl, he immediately said "No, I'm having a baby brother, not a sister." It was hilarious. He'll have plenty of time to let the idea sink in. I think he is used to all the little boys running around, he's just not sure what to think about this whole girl thing.

Little bean - blue or pink?

We find out next week if the baby is a boy or a girl, and can't wait. The ultrasound tech gave a good guess from a "very good look" at the 13 week ultrasound but you just never know so we've kept it to ourselves to see if her guess was right.

I don't know what it is about anything baby related but I just get cheesy about the whole thing. We wanted to have a gender reveal party but it was just to hard to get all of the family together over the busy summer so we settled on another plan.

Each of our sides of the family got an envelope in the mail this week that has two envelopes inside, numbered 1 and 2 - one for a girl and one for a boy, but they don't know which is which. When we find out, we'll let them know what envelope to open. Here's what else they got:

And here are the guesses...

Harmony gets extra credit for taking her picture while in labor. That is commitment.

Our garden

Last year we had a square patch of grass and step hill of weeds for a backyard. This year, we got down and dirty and are now enjoying our bountiful garden.

17 weeks

I haven't been as good at taking pictures of my ever emerging baby bump this time around. Pardon the mumu, it's just started heating up and I'm going for comfort over style these days. I know they say you will get bigger with your second, but really? I'm thinking it's going to be at least a 9lb-er.

17 weeks, on July 6th (also my 32nd birthday!)

4th of July

We had a wonderful 4th of July with our dear friends the DeHaans. Jeff met Chad at Willamette where they played basketball together and we've had the fun of entering the world of parenting together - Cole and their oldest boy Kaleb are just three months apart.

They visited for the weekend and we ran the boys non-stop. Cole is already missing his buddy and keeps asking when he is coming back.

Thank God for sunshine and sprinklers! (Kaleb & Cole)
Hi, I'm Tate. The most chill baby ever.
9 months, chubby, adorable and just a happy, easy going little guy.
